Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is one of the most frequent human illnesses. The cause of its occurance is not heredity, but unsatisfactory mouth hygiene. Proliferating bacteries in mouth stay on the surface of teeth as a film of tooth coat.

Product of these bacteries are acids, which cause the loss of minerals of tooth enamel and dentinum and gradually makes cavity.

Tooth decay in dentinum may, but does not have to hurt! If it is not treated on time, it changes into inflammation of dental pulp, where the nerves are located. Inflammation can be chronical or acute.

Acute inflammation of dental pulp is indicated by pain. It needs cleaning and filling the root canals and often needs to be replaced by laboratory made crown.

The treatment of inflammed tooth is timely and financially demanding. That is the reason of necessary prevention.

Fillings

Tooth decay in certain way makes cavity. The tooth treatment is done by careful removal of all damaged substance. Before the filling is finished it is necessary to make sure that there is no other infected substance.

Modern stomatology offers wide range of high quality esthetical filling materials. In our ordination we use the newest composite materials and amalgam, which does not release quicksilver.

Endodoncy

Endodoncy is focused on disablement of root tooth system. Tooth inflemmation not treated on time can possibly reach the pulp cavity and may cause acute or chronical tooth inflemmation. Acute inflemmation may cause irresistible pain.

Deep decays reaching the pulp don´t have to be painful. The pulp inflemmation is treated by removal of root canal and their careful mechanical and chemical cleaning. The following action is hermetical closing of root canal. Everything is done in local anesthesis in order to secure the maximum comfort for our patients. If the pulp inflemmation is not treated on time, the result is that the root system dies.

Therapy in this case is similar to above mentioned one. The most important factor is the time since the pulp died. Died substance causes infection and can be the source of future complications – the occurance of granuloms.

In acute cases the patient comes with painful swelling. Sometimes it is even necessary to extract the tooth. It depends on the kind of tooth, size of inflammation, general health condition of the patient.
