It is the process of teeth whitening. It is alway done by the doctor. It is not unhealthy! It is necessary to obey certain rules. The whitening substance influences just the tooth woven not the colour of prothetical fillings. Because it is necessary to check the patient and then to decide about the procedure.

 

The tooth decays should be treated before the whitening process, the patient goes through the dental hygiene, when he is lectured about the proper way of tooth cleaning. Then the whitening process follows.

During the whitening process the higher sensitivity of teeth may occur. Local anesthesis is often used. Sensitivity can be reduced by application of desensibilating gel. 24 hours after the whitening process, so called white-diet is recommended – not to eat anything that can colour white textile (only white yoghurt, rice etc.). The following 2–3 weeks, do not drink tea, coffee, coke, red wine, do not smoke and avoid colour food. In the case that the the crowns are not colour suitable after the process, it is necessary to remake them.

Final results of teeth whitening

White composite fillings can be made after 2-3 weeks otherwise the perfect tooth-filling connection won´t be guaranteed. The final result of whitening can´t be predicted because of genetically given colour of tooth. Approximately 2 per cent of population is whitening resistant.
